KeymasterNegative articles tend to be highly ranked by Google since news sites and media platforms are usually authoritative sources in terms of SEO ranking algorithms. This means that even though an article may be outdated and/or biased, Google considers it authoritative enough to be among the top-ranking search engine results for months.
The other reason could be related to users’ interaction with the website. The more often people click on, share, and talk about a specific negative piece of information, the more relevant Google finds it, and the higher it will appear on the search results page. Additionally, most of the time, there are no competing pieces of information about the person in question in favor of which the user can find some positive facts.
This could cause serious problems for both individuals and organizations, as people tend to form opinions about them based on information presented online.
The silver lining here is that poor visibility can sometimes be turned around with proper tactics. Reputation management on the Internet entails creating more positive content, increasing search visibility, and even removing negative search results, wherever possible. This can include optimized websites, press releases, social media sites, and other reputable web content.
Reputation management problems handled sooner tend to be easier to resolve. Disregarding negative press simply allows it to accumulate.
